CREO Welcomes Two New Faculty Members

Megan Andrew and Amy Langenkamp have joined the University of Notre Dame’s Center for Research on Educational Opportunity (CREO), the Institute for Educational Initiatives, and the Department of Sociology as Assistant Professors.

In particular, Langenkamp has received the O’Shaughnessy Assistant Professor Chair of Education. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 2007 and was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Georgia State University from 2008 to 2011.

Among Amy’s recent published articles are “Academic Vulnerability and Resilience during the Transition to High School: The Role of Social Relationships and District Context” in Sociology of Education, and “Following Different Pathways: Social Relationships, Academic Adjustment and the Transition to High School” in the American Journal of Education. Her research interests include education, race and ethnicity, immigration, and life course transitions.

Andrew received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin in 2009. She was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Scholar in Health Policy Fellow from 2009 to 2011 at the University of Michigan. Megan’s recent article, co-authored with Professor Erin Ruel of Georgia State University, “Intergenerational Health Selection in Wealth: A First Look at Parents’ Health Events and inter vivos Financial Transfers,” appeared in Social Science Research. Her research interests are education, gender, stratification, and life course transitions.
